CONjuration is an Immersive, Fan Directed, Magical Fantasy Convention

Who: Created by 2 local Atlanta geeks. Both have been attendees, staff, and vendors at a wide assortment of conventions for decades.
We’re huge fans, just like you!
We’re also applying to be a Non-Profit Organization to support education, literacy and art. This means every dollar spent by fans such as yourself goes into making future events bigger, and better than ever!
Why: For many years, Atlanta’s opportunities for attending a magically themed convention have been fairly limited. Magehven: Harry Potter Camp has been popular, but since it was only for kids, adults wanted a version they could attend as well. In addition, with Chris’ past experience as an art teacher and his mother as a librarian, they felt it was very important to create something to support education, literacy and art within the community. With their own convention experience at their disposal, a great group of friends by their side, and several requests from others, they decided to conjure up something special.
What: They knew they wanted to offer something fun for attendees from 0 to 80+. They also wanted to empower children to be much like the heroes often seen in the books & movies of popular magical fantasy; such as: Harry Potter, LOTR, Hobbit, Narnia, Buffy, Supernatural, the Witcher, Shadow and Bone, Encanto, & many others. They wanted to offer a family-friendly environment for ALL ages where kids can hang just as easily with adults during the day, with plenty of things to learn, do and see. As well as be able to provide exciting, more adult oriented programming, later in the evening for adults only. They also wanted to make sure this was a memorable experience! Basically, there should be plenty to do, not just see things or hear knowledgeable experts on panels, but to also be able to actually participate in lots of fun activities like live action games, maybe become a live chess piece, join in Quidditch matches, learn new dances, learn magic tricks, try archery & more. They also wanted to bring in crafts in creations from their Harry Potter day camp they run in the summer, such as making wands and other crafts, creating “spells”, learning calligraphy and more!
How: At a local hotel with a plenty of indoor space and a few outdoor fields, we offer displays of magic, panels from academia professionals, musical entertainment, crafts, cosplay opportunities, Quidditch, trivia/knowledge testing, and even more interactive experiences.
CONjuration is designed to provoke thought, wonder and fun!
2014, our inaugural year, had almost 600 attendees and lots of amazing, positive feedback. We continue to grow and evolve every year since. We are very much looking forward to our next event!
We are also aware there have been struggles with the creators of some of the magical fantasy we showcase. The human mind is an amazing device. We are able to see flowers growing on a battlefield, to see the rainbow left behind after a tornado, or even to see the beauty of a community brought together during a disaster. In the course of human history, there have been many beautiful and marvelous works created by broken and misguided people. These damaged individuals have created magnificent art, music, dance, poetry, literature, and theater. Our libraries, theaters, auditoriums, and museums are filled with these works. We choose to see the beauty. We choose to see the creativity. We choose to focus on that which brings us happiness. We choose to be united in our love of the art and not the hate of the artist. We can choose to love the art and dismiss, reject, and rebuff the artist. When the creator is broken, the reader, viewer, and listener becomes the caretaker of the artistic works. We are the curators, the stewards, and the guardians now. CONjuration has never and will never discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, sex, creed, color, gender, politics, identity, or national origin. We choose LOVE.
